A medical scribe is a relatively new position which consists of a non-clinical member of a health care team who specializes in documenting provider-patient encounters in real time. It is a role that affords great opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a career in healthcare.

Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), while a necessity, have decreased the amount of patients a physician can see in a shift. The addition of a medical scribe in a clinical setting has a direct influence in improving patient satisfaction, physician satisfaction, and accurate charting.

Becoming a scribe can serve as a stepping stone providing rewarding experiences prior to applying to a post-graduate school or program in the healthcare field, or the beginning of a long and rewarding career. Our scribes leave with valuable experiences and relationships that will follow them in whatever endeavor they pursue.

Fernando G. Mendoza, MD

Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Fernando Mendoza, CEO of Scrivas, attended medical school at the University of Florida College of Medicine, and completed his pediatric residency at the University of Miami School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Hospital Department of Pediatrics, and pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at the Boston University School of Medicine/ Boston Medical Center in Boston, MA.

Throughout his career in pediatric emergency medicine, Dr. Mendoza has worked in several pediatric emergency departments before assuming the role of medical director at the Baptist Children’s Hospital emergency department. Dr. Mendoza first began incorporating scribes into the daily work environment as he strived to improve the efficiency, productivity, and throughput of patients of this busy suburban pediatric emergency department. As a result of implementing a scribe program, both patient and physician satisfaction improved, and have remained at in the top percentiles.

Dr. Mendoza directly supervises the training and certification of the scribes at Scrivas, and works closely in the day to day operations, ensuring that only the most highly qualified applicants are offered interviews for scribe postions. Dr. Mendoza also maintains a close working relationship with all of Scrivas’ clients, ensuring that the client’s needs are being met, and exceeding expectations. Dr. Mendoza uses his own scribe services when he is on shift, which allows a unique insight to the services offered by Scrivas and how to continually improve the client experience.

This local, hands-on approach with the management and supervisory team at Scrivas affords the most customizable and personalized approach to an industry that is quickly becoming crowded with mass-marketed, national companies.

With Scrivas’ focus on the local Southeast market, we are able to ensure a very responsive management team, with local market expertise.

Dr. Mendoza’s personalized, hands-on approach is what sets the bar higher and elevates Scrivas above the competition.
