Why We Built SAI
In 2012, Dr. Fernando Mendoza, a practicing pediatric emergency physician, founded Scrivas to solve a problem he encountered in his own clinic: documentation was consuming care. The solution at the time was human scribes, and for over a decade, Scrivas built one of the most rigorous, physician-led scribing operations in the country, serving emergency departments, specialty clinics, and ambulatory practices across multiple specialties and EMRs.
That 14-year foundation did not just build a business. It built aknowledge base that no software company starting from scratchcan replicate: deep, encounter-level understanding of howphysicians actually document, what breaks down in clinicalworkflows, and what it takes to earn a physician's trust in the exam room.
SAI is what that knowledge looks like when it becomes AI. Notambient transcription built by engineers who have never seen apatient. An ambient clinical assistant designed by physicians andhighly experienced medical scribes, refined through hundreds ofthousands of real encounters, and built around one conviction: the best tool in a clinical environment is the one the physician never has to think about.

CEO AND CO-FOUNDER
Dr. Fernando Mendoza founded Scrivas in 2012 after recognizing the documentation burden facing physicians in his own emergency department. A practicing pediatric emergency physician for over 20 years, he built Scrivas into a nationally recognized clinical documentation company before launching SAI, an ambient AI scribing platform designed by physicians, for physicians. Dr. Mendoza currently serves as Medical Director of the Baptist Hospital Miami and Homestead Hospital Pediatric Emergency Departments for Nicklaus Children's Pediatric Specialists, and as Chief of Pediatrics at Baptist Hospital Miami. He uses SAI in his own clinic every day. He holds an MD from the University of Florida College of Medicine and a BA from Brown University, with residency training at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital and fellowship training in pediatric emergency medicine at Boston University/Boston Medical Center. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Emergency Physicians.
